Manifestations and hazards of aging asphalt pavement
According to previous studies and field investigations, asphalt pavement is affected by volatilization, absorption, oxidation, and photochemical reactions of the pavement, and the asphalt ratio drops sharply under initial aging conditions, resulting in a brittle and fragile pavement. With further erosion of the asphalt, the moderately aged pavement exposes its content. Asphalt pavement enters the aging stage due to continuous tearing and weathering, in which the stones are exposed to smaller particles on the pavement.
